Casey Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

The Casey Philharmonic Orchestra is launching an exciting new Youth Orchestra. This initiative follows on from our 2026 Youth Intensive and demonstrates CPO’s long-term commitment to engaging young musicians in music education and a life-long passion.

Inclusive of musicians aged 12 to 25 years of age, this new orchestra will provide young musicians the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Under the expert guidance of Music Director Peter Casey AM (West Australian, Adelaide and Queensland Symphony Orchestras), you will work on a wide range of repertoire from the classical to modern genres.

Workshop with world class musicians and perform at venues such as Bunjil Place, this orchestra has everything to offer young musicians wishing to develop their musical abilities and gain experience in a large orchestral ensemble.

Music Director

Peter Casey AM

Big Ideas, Real Impact.

Peter Casey is one of Australia’s most versatile Musical Directors, having established a career spanning the genres of musical theatre, arena presentations, symphonic concerts, orchestrations, television and recording.

Peter has been Guest Conductor and Orchestrator for the West Australian Symphony, Adelaide Symphony and Queensland Symphony Orchestras.

During his extensive career, he was Musical Director for numerous productions, including Evita, Les Miserables, CATS, The Sound of Music, The King and I, A Chorus Line, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Grease, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Chicago, Cabaret and The Producers. He was also Musical Director for the acclaimed arena production ‘The Main Event’, starring Olivia Newton-John, Anthony Warlow and John Farnham.

In 2018, Peter was honoured to be awarded a Member of the Order of Australia AM, for significant services to the performing arts as a conductor and musical director.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals take place each Friday evening (except during school holidays) from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Berwick Senior Citizens Center, 112 High St, Berwick.

The minimum recommended musical standard to get the most out of the orchestra is AMEB Grade 5.
