Dr Vicki-Ann Ware

Vicki completed a Bachelor of Music Performance/Bachelor of Arts at The University of Melbourne, and a Doctorate in music at Monash University. She is a pro-am horn player, and also a pianist, cellist and oboist. She has many years’ experience performing at amateur, pro-am and professional levels, teaching music, as well as 30+ years’ experience in community music, running workshops, training in song writing and using music/arts in community development and peacebuilding. Professionally, she is a Senior Lecturer in International and Community Development at Deakin University, with research expertise in community arts and arts-based conflict transformation. She recently led the publication of two books, the 'Routledge Handbook of Arts and Global Development', and 'Arts-based Research in Global Development: PErforming Knowledge' She convenes the international Arts/Sports CD Network. She is passionate about enriching people’s lives and empowering them to lead the lives they value, through artistic experiences.
