The final concert of a very busy 2022, originally scheduled for May but then a victim of another COVID wave. A sold out Bunjil Studio enjoyed guest conductor Alexander Vengerovski lead the orchestra through the magic of Grieg’s Peer Gynt suites, Berlioz’s March to the Scaffold from Symphonie Fantastique and the well known Adagio from Khachaturian’s Spartacus. The second half warmed up (without the brass) with Maurice Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite before the main event, and major musical challenge, of Paul Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The bassoons had a busy evening! The encore was a rapid version of In the Hall of the Mountain King.
