A near sold out Bunjil Place donned their superhero costumes to join the CPO in a celebration of classic movie and TV themes. The Marvel Cinematic Universe was represented through The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor and Spiderman:Far From Home; various Batman’s were covered with both Danny Elfman’s Suite from Tim Burton’s films and Franz Schubert’s Ave Maria from the more recent ‘The Batman’; and both titans of the movie composition world, Hans Zimmer and John Williams, featured with music from Pirates of the Carribbean:Dead Men’s Chest and Voldemort’s theme/Superman March respectively. The concert also featured the World premiere of two pieces from the recent Composers Competition: Samuel Stuchbery’s ‘Warranted Wrath’ and our own Hannah Hunt’s ‘Vanquest’. Ably conducted by a suitably attired Kent Ross, and led by Johnny Chen, the orchestra, with an enthusiastic augmented percussion section to the rear, encored with the perennial, sinister favourite Imperial March (Darth Vader’s theme).
